The Prevention program at 1st Step provides developmental services to children ages 2-4 in the local service area who do not qualify for other programs. It is a home-based program in which a qualified family educator makes weekly visits. Other services offered are parent trainings and advocacy classes, play groups and activities, and linkage to community resources. Through the Prevention grant, we also provide screenings at local schools and daycares and for families who have developmental concerns about their children under the age of 5.
