Community Link’s Virtual Buddy Walk Huge Success!

September 15, 2020

Breese, IL—In spite of the Covid pandemic, Community Link’s Virtual Buddy Walk raised more than $105,000 to support individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities.

“Thank you to our wonderful community for continuing to support us throughout this difficult time. We’re overwhelmed by your generosity, kindness and compassion,” stated John Huelskamp, Community Link’s executive director.

Since this year’s Buddy Walk went virtual, Community Link’s fundraising goal was lowered to $75,000. “It speaks volumes for our community that our goal broke the $100,000 mark,” stated Cindy Timmermann, Community Link’s development director

Individuals and teams were encouraged to walk, run, stroll or roll with their buddy during Labor Day weekend. Community Link added a scavenger hunt and a selfie challenge this year for walkers. They were encouraged to upload photos of their finds to social media.
